Microplastic and Heavy Metal Detox Strategies Part 3 of 3
Microplastics and Your Health Part 1 of 3
Strategies for Avoiding Microplastics Part 2 or 3
In this article I will discuss the need for better detoxification protocols with Mineral Balancing Programs and how to detox from microplastics and heavy metals.
I have been a Mineral Balancing Practitioner for almost 20 years. When I started my journey, I was taught to never use binders or detox supplements. These were considered dangerous and many are, plus many are also used haphazardly.
As I continue to learn, I know it is time for a change in this mindset. After years of experience and endless research, I feel confident that adding some safe liver support and detox protocols are going to take clients to the next level of healing. However, I am sure many practitioners are still working under the belief that all binders and detox supplements are harmful so please consult your practitioner before starting any new protocol or supplement that is not part of your Mineral Balancing Program.
As the world has gotten more toxic, myself, and many of my clients find detoxing nearly impossible. I can see this on reports and now know when it is time to add these protocols to Mineral Balancing Programs. Of course, these recommendations are always able to be implemented or left out, based on client preferences. You are always in control of your program! The good news is that I am here to guide you into the next phase, when and if needed.
The next phase may be gut healing protocols, liver support, or detox protocols depending on your individual needs, but these are issues that many practitioners are ignoring. They are telling clients Mineral Balancing alone will heal the gut, fix the liver, and detox the body. I get it. That is what many of us were taught.
However, this is not always true. While Mineral Balancing alone can heal the gut, some microbiome imbalances need more attention. I know because I needed to do more to heal my gut.
And yes, you need to be on a Mineral Balancing Program BEFORE starting detox protocols. Without the basics, you are likely to become ill when detoxing without a proper Mineral Balancing Program. I have worked with many clients who were “detoxed” through oral and/or IV chelation and became extremely ill.
Furthermore, some clients may detoxify effectively without binders but currently this is becoming harder for many clients. Read on to find out why.
Due to increased environmental toxins, especially with the microplastics that are now being discovered in our body, including in the brain, we have been bombarded with toxins. This has overloaded many people with a toxin burden that have overwhelmed the body. This weakens our detox pathways, wrecks our health, and can be impossible to eliminate without additional assistance.
DETOXIFICATION PROTOCOLS
Contact your practitioner before beginning any new protocol or supplement that is not part of your Mineral Balancing Program.
Detoxing can be challenging. Before you jump in and take a bunch of detox supplements that “may” help you detox microplastics, I urge you to start slowly as detoxing too quickly and/or before the liver is “ready” can create more problems and even serious health issues. I would suggest starting with some of the first five recommendations to assure the liver is strong and then review the other supplements that can bind microplastics.
Ask your practitioner which recommendations are best suitable for you.
And please don’t skip number 10 on the list as this is my favorite detox supplement!
LIVER SUPPORT
1. Eat more Veggies - The fiber in veggies may protect against the negative health effects of microplastics as it absorbs microplastics which can help facilitate excretion. This may not be feasible for everyone as some people find that vegetables may cause health issues due to the defense mechanism in plants.
2. Sauna Therapy – Sweating is an excellent way to eliminate microplastics, as well as other toxic chemicals and heavy metals. Use a near-infrared sauna on a regular basis to assist in effective detoxification.
3. Broccoli Sprouts - Broccoli Sprouts are high in sulforaphane, a compound that benefits for the brain, cellular health, & the immune system while also upregulating various detoxification pathways such as the NRF2. Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt has found broccoli sprouts to be helpful in excreting microplastics. I grow my own broccoli sprouts in mason jars. You can buy organic seeds and find instructions for growing sprouts – super easy!
4. Herbs for Liver Support - Milk thistle, dandelion root, green tea, artichoke, garlic, ginseng, turmeric, ginger, licorice root, and astragalus.
5. Liver Support Supplement–You may want to try NAC with Milk Thistle as this provides support for your detoxification process while providing a health inflammatory response, also helping your body to produce antioxidants which protect against free radical damage to your cells and tissues. I recommend Mercola’s NAC with Milk Thistle.
6. Coffee Enemas – This will help your body detox as well as support liver health.
DETOX SUPPLEMENT OPTIONS
(Check with your practitioner to see which option is the best for you)
7. Fermented Chlorella – Chlorella has been shown to bind microplastics. With fermentation, you get chlorella that is more digestible and doesn’t need the harsh physical processing which can damage the cells and degrade the nutrients. Start slowly and with the assistance of your Mineral Balancing Practitioner.
8. Calcium-D-glucarate - Calcium D-glucarate is a supplement that is made by combining calcium and d-glucaric acid. Calcium-D-glucarate supports the glucuronidation process, an underrated detox pathway that mainly takes place in the liver and is responsible for disposal of many different endocrine disrupting chemicals including microplastics. Calcium D-glucarate helps balance Glucaric acid is a naturally occurring substance that is produced by our body, in small amounts, and aids our body’s detoxification of environmental toxins, hormones (like estrogen), cancer causing agents, and metabolic waste generated within the body. While Calcium D-glucarate has great benefits, it does not replace or change the calcium supplement recommendations you were given for your Mineral Balancing Program.
9. Liposomal DIM - Diindolylmethane (DIM) is a compound found in cruciferous vegetables. It helps upregulate various detox pathways in the liver, being particularly useful for xenoestrogens (estrogen mimicking compounds) including microplastics. Liposomal DIM can be beneficial for balancing hormones in both men and women, especially if you are estrogen dominant. Liposomal DIM may also serve as a mast cell stabilizer.
10. Bio Guard from Valence Nutraceuticals – This should be released soon and frankly is my favorite option. Bio Guard contains chlorella, calcium d-glucarate, broccoli sprout extract and more. This makes it an excellent option for detoxing not only microplastics but heavy metals, pesticides and other chemical toxins. This dynamite combo of detox agents, along with a good liver support program as discussed in this article, makes it my top recommendation for detoxing microplastics.
